Thousands of brands and companies attend the Consumer Electronics Show, more popularly known as CES held in Las Vegas every year. Most products showcased at CES are innovations that brands want to show off. Think of it as an exhibition where companies display their capabilities and their upcoming products with these innovations. We had the opportunity to attend CES this year — and among the plethora of products we saw — we decided to aggregate the best tech of CES 2024 under one roof.
Right from smart pillows that prevent snoring to an ice cream maker that can churn out your favorite dessert in under two minutes, we saw some incredible products at CES this year!
While some of them may not be available to purchase immediately, it’s interesting to see how brands are pushing the boundaries of technology with innovative products in various sectors. That said, here are all the products you should watch out for when they eventually become available to purchase.
1. Rabbit R1
There’s no denying that we are now in the age of AI. Services like ChatGPT and Bard use LLMs to help you with questions or certain tasks. While these services can be used on any device, the latest hot tech startup — Rabbit — came up with a dedicated device running an AI assistant. That’s exactly what gave rise to the Rabbit R1.
The R1 is a portable handheld AI assistant that can help you get several tasks done. Whether you want to schedule an appointment for a haircut or capture a sign that’s in a different language and translate it to English, it can do it all. It has a small screen to interact with the device, along with a rotating camera to capture photos and videos.
What differentiates the Rabbit R1 from something like ChatGPT on your phone is that ChatGPT uses a Large Language Model or LLM while the R1 uses a Large Action Model or LAM.
In short, ChatGPT can only answer your queries, but the Rabbit R1 can act upon them and do things for you. Simply connect your phone to the R1, and it will sync your data and learn your usage patterns. AI is undeniably the future, and if you want to be at the forefront of it, the Rabbit R1 aims to give you a headstart.
2. MSI Claw
Handheld consoles like the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch have become quite popular recently. In fact, Asus also jumped onto the bandwagon with its ROG Ally handheld. Well, MSI wasn’t going to be left behind in the race for too long. The brand has debuted its latest Claw handheld console at CES, and it seems like a promising proposition.
The console runs on Intel’s new Core Ultra series of chipsets, providing ample power while keeping the endurance in check. Battery life is one of the major concerns of most handheld consoles like this one, but the 53Wh battery, coupled with the efficient chip, ensures you can enjoy AAA titles for up to two hours on the trot.
All your games and media can be enjoyed on the 7-inch 120Hz display as you grip the ergonomic sides of the console. MSI’s new AI engine optimizes performance on the Claw, so when you’re not pushing the CPU and GPU to their maximum capabilities, the console will prioritize battery life. Fire up an intensive game, and the clocks will run at full tilt. If you’re in the market for a handheld console, we urge you to wait for the MSI Claw since it’s shaping up to be the best in the business.
3. ColdSnap
Haven’t we all had those midnight cravings for a cup of ice cream? If you’re lucky, you may have some leftover dessert in your refrigerator. If not, you’ll have to settle for a whole night of dreams occupied by your favorite chocolate chip or Rocky Road ice cream! Well, not anymore. ColdSnap has an innovative solution that can churn out your favorite ice cream in under two minutes. Yes, you read that right!
Think of ColdSnap as a Keurig machine but for ice cream instead of coffee. Simply pop in a pod with the flavor of your choice and by the time you scroll through a couple of Tik-Toks, your ice cream is ready! The brand offers a variety of flavors, so there’s something for everyone.
It’s crazy to think that a tiny machine can make you a cold dessert in a matter of a few seconds. Imagine having the ColdSnap in your dorm, restaurant, or even in public places like malls. Instead of walking into a store to buy ice cream, you can simply head over to a ColdSnap machine, select the flavor of your choice, and watch it magically dispense the ice cream into a cup!
4. Shargeek 170W Power Bank
Previously, fast-charging power banks could output up to 18W of power. Fast forward to 2024, we now have power banks that can charge your devices at 170W! We are, of course, talking about the Shargeek 170, which has three ports. From the available connectors, the device’s USB-C ports can power a large gaming laptop or the top-end 16-inch MacBook Pro without breaking a sweat.
Moreover, the added wattage means you can charge a MacBook Pro at full power while also charging a smartphone or tablet at high wattages. In short, it’s pretty much the only travel companion you need. What makes the deal sweeter is that the power bank itself can charge at up to 140W which is an absolute blessing given its capacious 24,000mAh battery pack.
Some cool additions include a transparent casing so you can see the PCB design, a display that shows the input and output current/voltage, and water resistance that allows you to use the power bank outdoors even when it’s pouring. If there’s one charging accessory you need in your travel backpack, it’s the Shargeek 170.
5. Ocutrx AR Headset
Brands like Meta and Apple are encouraging the mass adoption of VR and AR tech with their devices. The Meta Quest 3 is an excellent mixed-reality headset, and the Apple Vision Pro aims to provide a spatial experience like never before. Amidst these commercially available devices, though, there’s one brand trying to use Augmented Reality for a greater cause — and that’s Ocutrx.
Ocutrx aims to enable surgeons, army professionals, and patients with eye problems to use its AR headset to solve real-world problems. For example, doctors can perform surgery using real-time instructions in AR. Users with certain eye defects can see better with the Ocutrx headset thanks to the wide field of view.
In fact, Ocutrx claims to have the widest field of view among all the AR headsets out there. The brand also says that the onboard display has the highest resolution compared to similar headsets. We tried out the headset for a brief period and could attest to both these claims when compared to the Meta Quest 2. If you’re a surgeon or are involved in telemedicine or any other industry that can benefit from remote instructions in AR, you should consider the possibilities of involving AR with the help of Ocutrx.
6. Nex Playground
Remember the days of the Nintendo Wii and Xbox Kinect? If you’ve used any of those consoles as a kid, you can now relive your nostalgia thanks to the Nex Playground. The company has come up with a gaming console with the aim of making kids more active. Instead of a standard console that uses a controller, the Nex Playground makes you — the player — the controller.
Once you connect the Nex to your TV and stand in front of it, it quickly scans your body’s position using the onboard camera. Then, you can make certain body movements to trigger actions within the game. For example, there’s a basketball game where you need to pick up balls from the ground and throw them into the hoop. You need to perform these actions with your body, which keeps kids active while letting them enjoy a game from the comfort of their homes.
Another aim of the Nex Playground is to bring family members together so they can spend quality time with each other. It does so with the help of several multiplayer games where two or more members of the family can play and compete against each other. The Nex Playground is already available to order at a price that’s not too steep. If you want kids to be more active while spending time away from their smartphones, consider ordering the Nex Playground.
7. Motion Pillow
Snoring is a common issue that affects not only the person but also the people around them. In fact, your snoring habits may be disturbing your partner’s sleep too. While there are some natural solutions to address the issue, they may not always be effective. Enter Motion Pillow. Motion Pillow uses technology and AI to stop you from snoring.
There’s a motion system that is provided with the pillow. It needs to be placed next to where you sleep so it can detect snoring patterns. When the system detects that you’re snoring, it automatically inflates the top section of the pillow to raise your head ever so slightly. Note that it doesn’t disturb your sleep since the movement is gradual. This movement opens up the airway and, hence, prevents snoring.
When you wake up, the companion app also shows you your detailed sleep patterns along with recordings of snoring sessions. The data includes different levels of sleep along with the duration. If you have signs of snoring or even sleep apnea, the Motion Pillow is an excellent investment that can help you improve your quality of life.
8. Samsung Frame Speaker
Samsung’s Frame series of TVs have gained a lot of popularity for their unique and eye-catchy design. Mount the TV on a wall, and it looks like a piece of art. Well, if you liked the design ethos of the Frame TV and wished to have more of it in your house, the Frame Speaker will let you do exactly that.
Of course, you can’t have multiple TVs hung on a wall in your drawing room. It would serve no purpose at all. But, while replicating the same look, the Frame speaker provides extra functionality and is more practical since it’s much smaller. Pair your smartphone or TV with the Frame speaker for a rich sound output. Moreover, you can pair multiple Frame speakers for a stereo effect.
Apart from the audio itself, the Frame speaker is an absolute looker — just like its TV counterpart. So, now you can display your favorite art on your wall while enjoying high-quality music.
9. Anker Solix F3800
A portable power station is an absolute must if you often go out to camp or like touring in your RV. While there are several options for a small power generator, the new Anker Solix F3800 is a fantastic option. It packs in a ton of power and a plethora of ports, thereby ensuring you won’t have to carry any other power bank or station on your road trips.
The built-in cell has a massive 3,840Wh capacity, which can be expanded with up to six batteries. There’s support for 2,400W solar input that can charge the station from 0 to 80 percent in just 1.5 hours with adequate exposure to sunlight. Anker was also thoughtful enough to include wheels on the station, so it’s easy to lug around too.
10. Kohler Rista Sink
A surprise entrant into the list is Kohler — a manufacturer of premium bathroom fittings. The company has showcased multiple innovations at CES in the past, and this year’s Rista sink is no exception. To that end, the entire sink is 3D printed and has a unique design.
Along with the sink, the brand bundles a host of smart features like a sensor-based outlet, buttons to help you control the flow and temperature of the output, etc. Kohler has also unveiled fancy showers, tubs, and pots that are filled with interesting tech like bidets and mood lighting.
Cutting-Edge Technology at CES
