How to View Your Instagram Data
If you only want to see what data Instagram has collected during your usage, you can easily access it in the Instagram app on your phone. Here’s how:
Step 1: Open the Instagram app and switch to the profile tab. Tap the menu icon at the top right corner and select Settings.
Step 2: Go to Your activity > Account history. Here, you’ll find all changes made to your Instagram account over the years. You can use the options at the top to filter and sort this data.
How to Download Your Instagram Data
Downloading a copy of your Instagram account data enables you to view everything you’ve shared on the platform. This data includes your liked posts, connections, comments, subscriptions, messages, and more.
Step 1: Launch the Instagram app on your phone and navigate to the settings page.
Step 2: Go to Accounts Center > Your information and permissions > Download your information.
Step 3: Tap Download or transfer information. Select your Instagram account from the list and hit Next.
Step 4: Select All available information. You can also select Some of your information if you only want to download specific account data.
Step 5: Select Download to device and hit Next. Then, select Create files.
Once you submit the request, Instagram will begin creating a file of your shared content. You’ll receive an email from Instagram once the data is ready for download. To download it:
Open the Instagram settings page and head to Accounts Center > Your information and permissions > Download your information.
You must open the ZIP file on your phone or computer to view your data.
How to Delete Your Instagram Data
Unfortunately, the only way to remove your Instagram data is to delete the account itself. Here are the steps for this.
Step 1: Launch the Instagram app on your phone and navigate to the settings page.
Step 2: Go to Accounts Center > Personal details > Account ownership and control.
Step 3: Go to Deactivation or deletion and choose your Instagram account.
Step 4: Select Delete account and hit Continue. Then, enter your password to confirm the action.
If you change your mind, Instagram will wait 30 days before completely deleting your account. Until then, your profile will remain hidden.
