Microsoft first released Copilot on Android and has now made it available for iOS users, too. All you need is an active Microsoft ID to get started with the AI companion. Although the Windows maker is expected to lock Copilot behind a paywall or a Microsoft 365 subscription, the AI companion is free to use as of now. 1. Enable GPT-4

As expected, Microsoft Copilot is based on the Chat GPT model. While Chat GPT-3.5 is a welcome improvement over Chat GPT-3, the GPT-4 language model takes the entire AI experience to the next level.

Introduced back in March 2023, Chat GPT-4 delivers a major leap forward in AI capabilities. It is more robust, reliable, and creative and handles complex queries with better accuracy than Chat GPT-3.5. If Copilot delivers average or inaccurate results, enable the GPT-4 toggle on the home screen.

However, do note that the responses may be slower than before.  

2. Change Conversation Style

The default conversation style is set Balanced in Copilot. As the name suggests, it balances between creativity and precision while generating answers to your queries. You can switch to Creative or Precise as per your preference. Here’s how.

Step 1: Launch Microsoft Copilot and tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.

Step 2: Tap Show All Tones.

Step 3: Tap More Creative or More Precise from the prompt that follows.

You need to get creative with prompts on Copilot. Without a relevant prompt, you may not receive the answers you were looking for.

4. Use Images to Chat With Copilot

Apart from text prompts, you can use images to chat with Copilot. When you launch the app, tap the camera icon and capture an image. Upload an image on the app, type a question, and wait for the AI magic to happen.

5. Shop a Look or Capture Text With a Built-in Camera

The default search menu is quite powerful in Copilot. It comes with several capabilities to answer your image queries.

When you launch Camera in Copilot, slide to the Search menu and try a visual search. It identifies what you see, lets you shop for a specific look, and even captures text, translates it, and scans a barcode.  

6. Clear Copilot History

Microsoft Copilot auto-saves your chat history. If you have searched for irrelevant items, you can clear the history by following the steps outlined below.

Step 1: Launch Copilot and tap the account picture in the top left corner.  

Step 2: Select Privacy.

Step 3: Tap Clear browsing data.

7. Change Copilot Theme

Do you often use Copilot at night? Change the default theme to dark to avoid eye strain.

Step 1: Head to the Copilot account.

Step 2: Tap Theme. Select Dark.

8. Clear Cache Images

Frequently chatting with images or using visual search in Copilot may build up a significant cache. You can delete cached images and files to free up space on your smartphone.

Step 1: Navigate to the Copilot account. Select Privacy.

Step 2: Tap Clear app data.

Step 3: Tap the checkmark beside Cache and hit Clear selected.

9. Change Region and Language

Copilot lets you change the region and language for a better experience.

Step 1: Open the Copilot account and tap Region and Language.

Step 2: Change Country & region, Display language, and Speech language to your preference.
