What Is the Use of the Undo Delete Feature
If you’re someone like me, who has hit the Delete for me button instead of the Delete for everyone option in haste, this new feature is a lifesaver.
It allows you to undo the delete action and restore the message. After you do this, you can delete the message for everyone if that’s what you intended to do in the first place. Surely saves you from a lot of embarrassment!
How to Undo Deleted WhatsApp Messages
Step 1: Open the conversation in which you want to delete a WhatsApp message. Tap and hold on to a message to delete.
Step 2: If you delete the message for yourself by accidentally tapping on ‘Delete for me’, you will now see a small banner at the bottom with an Undo button. Tap on it.
Step 3: Now, you can select the message again and choose the Delete for everyone option.

Yes, the same procedure can be used to restore a deleted image as well. In fact, any media file including a video, audio, or document can be restored using this method.
WhatsApp gives you 5 seconds to undo a deleted message. As soon as you delete a message for yourself, you will see a small banner at the bottom of the screen that lasts for 5 seconds. If you don’t tap on the undo button in that duration, it will disappear and you cannot restore the message after that.
No, you can only undo messages you delete at present. However, you can delete and restore older messages from a chat even if the message was sent before this feature was rolled out.
Unfortunately, the ability to undo deleted WhatsApp chats isn’t here yet. It would surely be a nice feature to have, though. So, we hope WhatsApp rolls it out in the near future.
