Basic Fixes
- Restart Your Mac: The go-to fix for any issue is the good old restart. Hence, if there is no sound on your Apple Watch, start the solution hunt with a simple restart.
- Update to the Latest watchOS: Updating effectively clears out bugs and improves the usability of any device. To do so, open the Watch app on your iPhone > General > Software Update.
- Clean Speaker Grills: The speaker grills located on the side of your Apple Watch emit sound. These grills accumulate dust. Just take a soft microfibre cloth and swipe the dust particles off your speaker grills.
- Contact Apple Support: If none of the fixes we have suggested worked, contact Apple Support.
Fix 1: Ensure Focus Modes Are Turned Off
Focus modes could disable sounds from notifications. For instance, if you have triggered the Sleep focus mode, which mutes your speaker, this will automatically hinder the performance of your Watch’s speaker.
Step 1: Drag down the Control Center on your iPhone. Then, press and hold on Focus to display the list of focus modes.
Step 2: If any focus mode is enabled, tap on it to turn it off.
Fix 2: Eject Water From Apple Watch
If your speaker stopped working after it came in contact with water, you can eject this water from the speakers as follows.
Step 1: Press the side button to open Control Center of your Apple Watch. Then, scroll down and tap on the water sign.
Step 2: Now, press and hold the Digital Crown to start ejecting water. Now, you should see a screen indicating that the water ejection process has been unlocked.
Fix 3: Unpair and Re-Pair the Watch
Sometimes, an improper pairing may cause sound-related issues on your Apple Watch. So, it is advisable to unpair the Watch from your iPhone and pair it back. Here’s how to do so.
Step 1: Open the Watch app on your iPhone. Then, tap on All Watches in the top-left corner. Tap on the i icon next to your Watch’s details.
Step 2: Now, select Unpair Apple Watch. You can then choose the ‘Unpair X’s Apple Watch‘ option to complete the unpairing process.
After unpairing your Apple Watch, pair it back to see if your Watch has started emitting sounds.
