Quick Tips

  • Go to the Fix My Speakers website and use the relevant options to get water out of your iPad’s speakers.
  • Open Settings > tap on General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset All Content and Settings. Set up your iPad again and check.

Why Is My iPad Making Buzzing Sound?

There could be several reasons why your iPad is making fuzzy sounds, crackling noises, or buzzing sounds. Let’s have a look at a few of them:

  • The magnetic case is interfering with the speaker grill, causing the final output sound to be distorted.
  • Your iPad is constantly overheating, causing whirring sounds to be heard.
  • There is dirt or dust accumulation on the speaker grill, impeding normal sound output.
  • You have recently spilled water on your iPad, causing water to enter the speaker grill.
  • There is a software bug causing sound distortion on your iPad.

Basic Fixes:

  • Clean the speaker grills: Dirt or debris can cause sound distortion. To clean your iPad’s speakers take a microfiber cloth and spray some rubbing alcohol on it. Then, gently use the folds of the cloth to dust off any grime accumulated on the speaker grills.
  • Try playing a different media: If your iPad makes static noises or buzzing sounds while playing media from a particular application, try using another app. For instance, if you hear sounds while using Spotify, switch to YouTube and check if your speakers are still glitching.

Fix 1: Remove the Case With Magnetic Back

Cases with magnetic backs can interfere with the electric components in your iPad. These magnets can either lead to coils making whirring sounds inside your iPad or can make your iPad vibrate. In this case, remove any case that has magnets at the back and check again.
