4 Ways to Fix FaceTime Not Working on iPhone

Quick Fixes
  • Enable FaceTime again and then force quit the FaceTime app.
  • Sign in again to your Apple account.
  • Update FaceTime app by installing the latest version of iOS.

Fix 1: Check if Data Usage Is Enabled and Force Restart Your iPhone

Reboot your router if you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network. For cellular data, check that you have an active internet/data plan with your network carrier. Go to Settings > Mobile Data and check that FaceTime is flicked On.

To force restart your iPhone, quickly press Volume Up, Volume Down, and then long-press the Power Button till you see the Apple logo.

Fix 2: Change FaceTime Location

FaceTime might not work on your iPhone if the app’s location is set to the wrong region, particularly in countries where FaceTime is blocked or restricted, such as Oman, UAE, Qatar, etc.

Step 1: Open the Settings app and tap on FaceTime.

Step 2: Tap on your Apple ID and select Change Location. Select the new Region of your choice > tap on Save.

Fix 3: Check Date and Time

Many device functionalities and apps (FaceTime and App Store, for example) won’t function correctly if your iPhone’s date and time settings are incorrect. And not just on iPhones, this also applies to FaceTime on Macs and iPads. Check that your device is configured to update date and time information automatically. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and ensure Set Automatically is toggled on.

Fix 4: Reset Network Settings

Resetting the network settings resets all network parameters, such as saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth devices, data plans, etc. So, you will have to set them up again manually.

Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPhone. Navigate to General.

Step 2: Scroll down and tap on Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.

Step 3: Now, select Reset Network Settings again to confirm.
