Buying a new soundbar can be tricky. With so many options to choose from, the choice is never easy. However, the choice can be made easier by narrowing down the decision to a brand and also budget. One of the best brands for a soundbar is Sony. Here’s a list of the best Sony soundbars in 2023.
It is no secret that Sony has some really nice soundbars in the market. These include models which offer interesting features such as Dolby Atmos. But before we get to our list, we recommend checking out these posts as well.
- Want to watch the latest movies at home? Get a TV that supports Dolby Vision.
- Here are our picks for the top affordable soundbars with Dolby Atmos
1. Sony S100F
Channel configuration: 2.0 channel
However, since it’s an affordable offering it does lack certain features, including the lack of height channels and Dolby Atmos, as well as DTS. There are also no Full HDMI input ports which makes it difficult to be paired with some newer TVs.
But what works in its favor is the fact that it offers a very clear and accurate reproduction of voices, making it a good affordable option for watching cinema. The soundstage is also decent for a soundbar of its size.

2. Sony HT-X8500
Channel configuration: 2.1 channel
The Sony HT-X8500 also offers a wide soundstage which is enhanced thanks to its wraparound sound processing technology. Sony has also used Vertical S technology and the soundbar also comes with an in-built subwoofer so that it can produce a much richer and fuller sound.
While the soundbar does indeed use Sony’s DSP post-processing technology for surround sound, the fact that there are no up-firing speakers means the HT-X8500 does not offer a truly immersive sound experience for watching movies.

3. Sony HT-S2000
Channel configuration: 3.1 channel
For example, the HT-S2000 brings with it Sony’s Vertical Surround Engine and S-Force PRO Front Surround features for a fuller sound and a bigger soundstage in general. In the HT-S2000, Sony also uses Dolby Atmos and DTS:X to make movie watching a more realistic experience thanks to multi-dimensional audio.
The HT-S2000 relies on a built-in dual subwoofer for deep bass three front speakers, and a center channel designed specifically to improve dialogues. Overall, the HT-S2000 is a good 3.1-channel soundbar that delivers impressive audio for most content.

4. Sony HT-A3000
Channel configuration: 3.1 channel
The HT-A3000 goes big on wireless playback options, and can also be connected to a compatible Bravia TV to take advantage of Sony’s Acoustic Center Sync feature. It is a feature-rich feature-rich soundbar capable of producing a theatre-like experience at home but at a higher cost than the HT-S2000.
There’s support for Dolby Atmos which not only helps in improving the cinema experience, but its good core hardware and features help it perform well for TV and music playback. The lack of a standalone subwoofer at this price does work against the HT-A3000 though.

5. Sony HT-A7000
Channel configuration: 7.1.2 channel
The HT-A7000 promises a wider sweet spot, and thanks to Sony’s mastery of audio technology and its 7.1.2 channel configuration, it promises to provide everyone in the room the best seat in the house during a movie.
This is thanks to innovative features like the Sound Field Optimization which calibrates the HT-A7000 to tailor itself to the room it has been set up in. Plus, it also comes with a unique 360 Spatial Sound Mapping technology which calibrates sound to the room to create an “environment that seems to expand beyond the walls”.
