Disable Google Chat and Meet in Gmail
If you don’t use Google Chat or Google Meet services in Gmail, turning it off becomes reasonable to get rid of extra tabs cluttering your workspace. Fortunately, Gmail provides the option to turn these features off both in its web interface and mobile app.
On Web
Step 1: Open Gmail, click the Gear icon at the top right, and select See all settings.
Step 2: Expand the Chat and Meet tab, set Chat to Off, and Meet to Hide the Meet section in the main menu. Click Save Changes and reload Gmail to update its interface.
On Android Phone
Step 1: Tap the hamburger menu at the top-left in the Gmail app and select Settings.
Step 2: Pick your desired Gmail account and scroll down to locate the General section.
Step 3: Uncheck Chat and Show the Meet tab for video calling to disable Google Chat and Meet in the Gmail app, respectively on Android.
On iPhone
Step 1: Open Gmail Settings (check the steps above), select Chat, and toggle off Show the Chat tab.
Step 2: Similarly, select Meet and toggle off Show the Meet tab for video calling to disable it in the Gmail app.
